PMU Central Macedonia

Goal

The goal of the PMU Central Macedonia is to focus on tumors of the hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues and pre-malignant conditions. INAB – CERTH possesses great expertise and specialization in hematologic malignancies. Indeed, the Institute has a leading role in relevant research and diagnostic activities, several within the context of large national and international academic consortia (ERIC: European Research Initiative on CLL, European LeukemiaNet, Splenic Lymphoma Group) where INAB – CERTH researchers lead multi-institutional studies.

Main R&D activities

The Central Macedonia Node of the Hellenic PMN will be hosted by the Institute of Applied Biosciences at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (INAB – CERTH). Its planned activities entail the following:

  • provision of specialized diagnostic services for cancer patients based on recombinant DNA methodologies, particularly Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
  • identification of novel biomarkers for cancer through a multi-disciplinary approach grounded on the integration of biomolecular data with real-world evidence (RWE).
